Uzbekistan's
trade with Georgia
Uzbekistan
and Georgia have a free trade regime, which opens up wide opportunities for the
dynamic development and diversification of trade and economic cooperation.
In
2017-2025, the trade turnover between the two countries increased 3-fold, from
$89 million to $267.6 million.
Uzbekistan's
exports to Georgia amounted to $77.2 million (in 2025), while imports totaled
$190.4 million.
In 2025,
the main exports of Uzbekistan to Georgia were industrial goods (32.8%), food
products (27.8%), machinery and transport equipment (9.2%), chemical products
(7.4%), mineral fuels and lubricating oils (3.1%), beverages and tobacco
(2.1%), as well as services (14.2%).
The main
imports from Georgia last year were chemical products (47%), beverages and
tobacco (13.9%), food products (9.8%), various finished products (4.7%),
machinery and transport equipment (2%), as well as services (21.1%).
Investment
cooperation
As of 2025,
60 enterprises (including 31 joint ventures and 29 with 100% Georgian capital)
with Georgian investments were registered in Uzbekistan. One of the notable
examples of the presence of Georgian business is the digital bank TBC Bank.
Investments
from Georgia in 2025 exceeded $40.1 million, and in 2016-2025 the total volume
of investments exceeded $46 million.
The main
areas of Georgian investment are manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, as
well as information and communications.
Prospects
for mutual trade
According
to CEIR estimates, there is significant potential in trade between Uzbekistan
and Georgia to expand the range and volume of Uzbekistan's exports to the
Georgian market, in particular, processed agricultural products, textiles,
leather and footwear products, automobiles, electrical goods and chemical
products.
In
addition, Georgia is an important link in the Trans-Caspian (Medium)
international transport route for the delivery of goods to the markets of
Europe and Turkey.
