The new order will be part of the fleet modernization program and will significantly increase the airline's long-haul capabilities. Due to the expansion of the Uzbekistan Airways fleet, it will be able to increase passenger traffic to key international destinations, increase schedule stability and develop a route network connecting Central Asia with Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
The contract also corresponds to the national development program "Uzbekistan-2030", under which Tashkent is planned to become one of the leading international transit hubs in the region. This will create new opportunities for attracting tourists, investments and expanding international cooperation.
"The Boeing 787 Dreamliner family has established itself as the backbone of our intercontinental transportation. With the signing of the new contract, we are further strengthening the position of our country and Uzbekistan Airways as the leading airline in Central Asia," said Shukhrat Khudaikulov, Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbekistan Airways JSC.
Boeing stressed that it will continue to support Uzbekistan Airways' growth strategy.
"With its fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will help Uzbekistan Airways expand into new markets and open up Uzbekistan's rich culture to more travelers," said Brad McMullen, Boeing's senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing.
