Negotiations were held with Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Iraq Juma al-Bahadli, Deputy Minister of Trade for Economic Affairs Hassan Hamid, Deputy Chairman of the National Investment Commission of Iraq Salar Muhammad Amin, Head of the Iraqi Union of Industrialists Adil Akkab, as well as Chairman of the Economic Council of Iraq Ibrahim al-Baghdadi.
During the meetings, issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation, removing trade and regulatory barriers, optimizing tariffs for priority Uzbek goods, speeding up certification procedures and developing logistics, including the use of regional transport hubs, were discussed.
The prospects for expanding exports of construction materials, textiles, carpets, food products and jewelry, as well as the entry of Uzbek companies into the Iraqi market, were considered.
Speaking at a business forum organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Iraq and the Economic Council of Iraq, Shokhrukh Gulamov noted the priority importance of trade for deepening the Uzbek-Iraqi economic partnership and the significant untapped potential of bilateral trade.
Special attention is paid to cooperation in the field of industry and mineral resources, including joint production projects, creation of joint ventures, processing of mineral raw materials, supply of refined metals, engineering services and equipment.
For reference: the forum was attended by more than 150 representatives of Iraqi government agencies and business circles, 25 leading companies and entrepreneurs working in the fields of food, textiles, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, furniture industry and the production of building materials. During the event, the investment attractiveness of Uzbekistan, the industrial and export potential of the country were presented, B2B negotiations were held, and an exhibition of Uzbek products was organized to increase the practical effectiveness of business contacts.
In conclusion, the Iraqi side was invited to visit Uzbekistan and consider holding the first meeting of the Uzbek-Iraqi Joint Economic Committee and a business forum.
