    Uzbekistan and Iran expand inter-parliamentary cooperation

    On April 3 of this year, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, met with a delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Majlis of the Islamic Council of Iran, Hamidriza Hajibaboi.

    During the meeting, issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and ensuring the implementation of agreements reached, as well as the development of trade and economic cooperation were discussed.

    The sides stressed the importance of the consistent development of friendly relations between the two countries. It was noted that over the past six years, the mutual trade turnover has grown 1.7 times and reached 497 million dollars in 2024, 261 enterprises with the participation of Iranian investors operate in Uzbekistan.

    An agreement was reached on establishing a systematic dialogue between the parliaments and strengthening cooperation in the legislative sphere, expanding the list of products under the preferential trade agreement.
