Uzbekistan and Lithuania are increasing cooperation in the field of transport and logistics

    The delegation headed by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilham Makhkamov studied the possibilities of Lithuania's transport and logistics infrastructure and held talks with Lithuanian partners on the development of this sphere and prospects for cooperation.

    During the negotiations between the Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilham Makhkamov and the Minister of Transport of Lithuania Marius Skuodis, issues of further development of mutually beneficial Uzbek-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, mutual provision of discounts on cargo transportation, creation of favorable conditions for national carriers were discussed.

    Marius Skuodis stressed that Uzbekistan is Lithuania's priority partner in Central Asia. The long-term successful cooperation in the transport and transit-logistics spheres and the tendency to increase the volume of cargo and passenger traffic between the countries were noted. Mutual interest in increasing practical cooperation in this area was confirmed.

    Following the talks between the heads of transport departments of the two countries, an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation through specialized structures, logistics companies and ports, as well as to begin joint development of new partnership mechanisms aimed at diversifying Uzbekistan's export routes in the European direction, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
