Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on the Problems of Landlocked Developing Countries, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov met with UN Deputy Secretary-General Rabab Fatima.

During the meeting, the agreements reached following the results of the international forum "Landlocked Developing Countries: Food Security and Sustainable Development Goals", held on September 5-6, 2024 in Tashkent, were discussed.

The parties paid special attention to the initiative to create an Agro-innovation hub under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. It is assumed that the new hub will become a regional platform for the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, contributing to the development of constant dialogue, exchange of experience and scientific cooperation in conditions of limited access to world markets.

Rabab Fatima stressed that the concept of an Agro-Innovation Hub presented by Uzbekistan has received support and is currently being considered by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). As part of this initiative, it is planned to create two regional centers - in Africa and in Uzbekistan. The prospects for cooperation in this area will be discussed in detail at the conference.

It was also noted that a special Secretariat has been established under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, which will ensure systematic coordination of activities in the direction of "Landlocked developing countries: food security and sustainable Development Goals."

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of all necessary measures to create an Agro-innovation Hub and continue constructive cooperation.
