The meeting was held under the leadership of H. Rakhmetov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Temir Yullari JSC. The meeting was also attended by A. Muminov, General Director of Temiryulkargo JSC, H. Adilov, Deputy General Director of Uztemiryulcontainer JSC, S. Salimov, Deputy General Director of Uzbekzheldorexpedition JSC and other responsible persons. On the part of the Pakistani colleagues, NLC Chairman Farrukh Shahzad Rao, project foreman Muhammad Yusuf and responsible specialist Shaib Hakwani attended the meeting.
One of the main topics of discussion was the implementation of multimodal rail transportation (during the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway corridor) from Pakistan through Uzbekistan to the CIS countries, in particular, to Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and other countries. The Pakistani side expressed interest in this proposal, especially given the significant demand for the transportation of agricultural products.
The Uzbek side stressed the possibility of using refrigerated wagons for transporting agricultural fruits, while offering favorable conditions and discounts on transportation along these routes.
The Pakistani side noted that the development of railway transport is a priority in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, according to the instructions of the head of state. Farrukh Shahzad Rao spoke about NLC's initiatives to develop regional ties, especially on land transportation to Central Asian republics and other countries in the region. He stressed that this cooperation will benefit the business community by strengthening trade relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, as well as other countries in the region.
At the same time, the parties discussed the construction of logistics facilities, warehouses and transit terminals in each country. An agreement was also reached on joint work with NLC in the port of Karachi.
Following the meeting, H.Rakhmetov and Farrukh Shahzad Rao signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which provides for several stages of joint work. It is planned to expand cooperation in the field of multimodal logistics, increase cargo transportation and attract more cargo through both countries.
