Uzbekistan and Pakistan strengthen cooperation in trade, economic and industrial spheres

    Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev met with the representative of the Government of Pakistan for the development of cooperation with Uzbekistan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industrial Affairs, Minister of Industry and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan.

    The meeting discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including issues related to the practical implementation of agreements reached during the high-level talks held in Tashkent in February this year, the Dunyo news agency reports.

    The importance of ensuring the timely implementation of the agreements reached, as well as establishing an active dialogue on potential areas that have not yet been implemented, was noted.

    An agreement was reached to develop joint measures to increase the volume of mutual trade, enhance direct communication between the leading companies of the two countries in the fields of information technology, attracting investment, managing economic zones, improving interbank settlements, food, construction, mining, pharmaceuticals and agricultural machinery.

    The proposals of the parties on the implementation of joint projects in special industrial zones, including Tashkent Pharma Park and Tashkent Technopark, were considered in detail.

    The meeting also discussed issues of strengthening ties between transport and logistics companies, the creation of joint multimodal transport enterprises, the transition to the practical part of cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery production, as well as the further expansion of trade relations with the effective use of the opportunities of the free economic zone "Airitom Free Zone" in Termez.
