During the meeting, Uzbek and Russian experts exchanged assessments of threats to biosafety both in the Central Asian region and in the world as a whole.
Issues of further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of biosafety were also discussed. Special attention was paid to strengthening the regime of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons (BTWC).
Following the consultations, the unity of approaches of Uzbekistan and Russia to biological safety issues was noted.
The parties stressed the need to continue close coordination and constructive interaction. This applies both to bilateral contacts and to joint work on relevant multilateral platforms, primarily within the framework of the BTWC and the United Nations (UN).
