Uzbekistan and Tajikistan continue to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation

    The Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, who is on a working visit to St. Petersburg, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rustam Emomali.

    Chairman of the Senate T. Narbayeva congratulated Rustam Emomali on his election to the post of head of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, and also expressed confidence that high-level cooperation and close ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries will continue to strengthen in the future.

    During the conversation, topical issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed. It was emphasized that the solid foundation of the Uzbek-Tajik strategic partnership is formed on the basis of close cooperation and a high level of mutual trust between the leaders of the two states.

    In connection with the formation of the new composition of parliaments, plans to intensify interparliamentary cooperation were discussed. The parties confirmed their readiness to hold a meeting of the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan friendship group, including issues of parliamentary control over the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level on the agenda.

    At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue and deepening comprehensive partnership between the two friendly countries.
