Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to promote the development of the Caspian Green Energy Corridor.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, the document was signed in Baku within the framework of the 11th ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor and the 3rd ministerial meeting of the Advisory Council on Green Energy.

"We are implementing a project to develop a green power transmission line between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Today, the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank have allocated $2 million to finance this project," said Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.

It is noted that the memorandum provides for cooperation in conducting a feasibility study of the project, which aims to connect the energy systems of the three countries and ensure the export of "green" electricity to Europe.

"The Caspian Green Energy Corridor is a continuation of the strategic partnership agreement on the development and transfer of green energy signed by Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan at the COP-29 climate conference last November," the statement said.
