The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan expects to expand the geography of cargo transportation through Agroexpress to Russia, supplies to Yekaterinburg and the Far East are being considered, Deputy Minister of Transport of the republic Jasurbek Choriev told RIA Novosti.

The first Agroexpress delivered a batch of frozen poultry meat in refrigerated containers from Tambov to Tashkent via Kazakhstan in November 2021. On the way back, he delivered fruit and vegetable products to the Russian Federation, the PRIME Economic Information Agency reports.

"We are even expanding the points of reception of goods, Yekaterinburg is being added, we talked about the Far East, it is also an urgent topic there," J. Choriev, commenting on the possibility of expanding the geography of the movement of Agroexpress.

According to him, new cargo delivery points between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation may start operating as early as 2023. "The main issue is that there should be congestion on both sides," Choriev said.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan added that, in particular, the possibility of supplying Russian confectionery products to the republic through Agroexpress is being discussed.

For reference: Agroexpress is a specialized service of Russian Railways Logistics and the Russian Export Center for the delivery of agricultural goods to China, Turkey and CIS countries using accelerated container trains. The service is constantly being improved due to the expansion of the list of routes and the use of modern transportation solutions, the use of refrigerated containers and flexitanks. In June, an agreement on the implementation of this service was signed with the Uzbek company "Uzagrologistics Centers". The transportation of goods on the principle of the "green corridor" should ensure the maximum delivery time of products from Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation in no more than five days. According to the calculations of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Agroexpress will increase the rail freight turnover of products between the countries to 1 million tons by 2030.
