On behalf of the governments of the two countries, the document was signed by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations, Abukar Dahir Osman.

The parties expressed their mutual willingness to strengthen joint cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies.

An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral contacts to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The signing of the document was an important step towards enhancing Uzbekistan's cooperation with African countries.

To date, the Federal Republic of Somalia has become the 157th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.

In 2024, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with 12 countries in Africa, America and Europe.
