According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice, the amount of the claim was approximately 700 million US dollars.
According to the decision of the arbitration tribunal, all Bursel's claims were rejected, and it was ordered to compensate Uzbekistan for the costs associated with the arbitration proceedings.
It is noted that the arbitration case was initiated by Bursel in July 2017 and lasted for almost seven years. In accordance with the arbitration rules, the tribunal's decision is final and binding.
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the international law firm White & Case (Washington, USA) represented the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan in this process.
Bursel's interests in arbitration were represented by international law firms: Başpinar & Partners Law Firm, Beckett Law LLC, Cooley LLP (until 2020), and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (until 2022).
