Uzbekistan took the first place among the Central Asian countries at the World Summer Universiade in Germany

    The XXXII World Summer Universiade, one of the largest international sporting events for students, has come to an end in the German region of Rhine-Ruhr. The closing ceremony was attended by delegations from more than 150 countries.

    According to the press service of the Ministry of Sports, at the current Universiade, more than 5,100 student-athletes competed for 234 sets of awards in 18 sports.

    The sports delegation of Uzbekistan competed in 11 sports - archery, athletic and rhythmic gymnastics, athletics, diving, judo, rowing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and tennis. It consists of 53 students studying at 18 universities in the country.

    As a result of the competition, the national team of Uzbekistan won 15 medals: 4 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze. This made it possible to take the 13th place in the overall medal standings and the first place among the countries of Central Asia.
