    In 2020, the volume of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere in the capital increased by 17% (316.0 thousand tons) compared to 2018, including emissions from motor vehicles reached 290 thousand tons (an increase of 14%), from stationary sources - 26 thousand tons (an increase of 62%).

    This was announced at a press conference at the IMC with the participation of the management and officials of the Hydrometeorological Service Center.

    Air pollution causes a negative impact of carcinogenic particles on humans, causing asthma, cancer, lung and heart diseases.

    The total area of the city of Tashkent is 35,630 hectares, of which the total area of the green zone is 757 hectares, the area of green spaces (lawns) is 225 hectares (2.7%).

    According to international standards, in order to preserve biodiversity, the area of the green zone and green spaces should be at least 12% of the total area.
