An attempt to illegally import gold from Kyrgyzstan worth more than 5.2 billion soums was stopped in the Ferghana Valley

    Employees of the State Security Service for the Andijan and Ferghana regions conducted an operational operation, during which a resident of the city of Andijan, born in 1992, was detained. He crossed the border of Uzbekistan through the customs post and "Drove a car" from the Kyrgyz Republic.

    It is reported that during the search, 859 pieces of jewelry and one wristwatch hidden under his clothes were found in his possession.

    According to the expert opinion, all the products are made of gold and encrusted with diamonds. The total weight of the products was 4 kg 155 g, and the market value was 5 billion 213 million soums.

    It turned out that these products were imported from Turkey to Kyrgyzstan and were intended for about 10 merchants from the Andijan and Ferghana regions. The detainee was supposed to illegally transport them across the border for a reward of $400.

    Currently, a criminal case has been opened under paragraph "a" of part 2 of Article 182 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (large-scale smuggling). The identity of the owners of precious items is being established.
