The speakers at the forum were Minister of Economy, Tourism and Trade of the Republic of Slovenia Matjaz Khan, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akram Aliyev, heads of ministries and departments, industry associations and chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries.
In his speech, Akram Aliyev noted the importance of establishing direct contacts and partnerships between the business circles of the two countries based on a combination of high technologies, sustainable development and innovation orientation in industry and energy in Slovenia and the huge industrial, resource and export potential of Uzbekistan.
There is a positive trend in the development of bilateral trade: if by the end of 2024 the trade turnover amounted to 176 million dollars, then in the first quarter of this year this figure exceeded 127 million dollars. The main items are services, finished textile products, chemical products, mechanical devices, stone, ceramic and gypsum products, furniture and others.
At the same time, the speaker highlighted the most promising areas of cooperation based on an analysis of the economic opportunities of the two countries. We are talking about the implementation of joint projects for the production of high-value-added products in the fields of agriculture, food production, pharmaceuticals, cable and wire production, and the construction of hydroelectric power plants.
At the same time, full readiness was expressed to provide comprehensive support to new joint initiatives that meet the interests of investors and contribute to the qualitative transformation and strengthening of the sustainability of the country's economy.
In turn, the Minister of Economy, Tourism and Trade of the Republic of Slovenia, Matjaz Khan, speaking at the forum, praised the scale of the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and called on Slovenian entrepreneurs to actively explore the Uzbek market.
During the forum, B2B and G2B meetings were organized, which provided representatives of the business circles of both countries with a unique opportunity to share experiences and explore promising areas of cooperation.
During the event, a number of agreements and contracts were exchanged aimed at further developing cooperation and implementing joint projects in such areas as investment partnership, pharmaceuticals, urban infrastructure construction, copper products production, fruit and vegetable products storage and processing, railway infrastructure development, construction of microhydroelectric power plants, the electrical industry, as well as in a number of other promising areas.
