In Namangan, smugglers used the current of the river to deliver cigarettes from Kyrgyzstan

    On June 30 of this year, at about 14:00, employees of the internal affairs bodies conducted a special operational event in the Yangikurgan district of Namangan region. During the event, three residents of the area were detained, who fished bags of contraband cigarettes out of the river with a strong current.

    According to the press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Namangan region, these bags were launched on the territory of Kyrgyzstan and, thus, the attackers illegally delivered tobacco products to Uzbekistan. In total, 9 thousand packages of Milano tobacco products worth 100 million soums were seized.

    A criminal case has been opened on this fact under part 3 of article "Illegal trafficking or production of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and tobacco products" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which may entail up to 7 years in prison.
