Due to the coronavirus pandemic that began in 2020, this event was postponed to 2023. According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 11, 2020 "On preparation for the population census of 2023 in the Republic of Uzbekistan and measures for its conduct", the population census in the republic is scheduled to be held on November 1-25, 2023, the press service of the Statistics Agency reports.
In order to thoroughly prepare for the population census, all regulatory and methodological documents regulating the sphere, as well as forms of registration questionnaires, have been developed, a special population census website has been introduced (aholi.stat.uz), prepared the logo and motto of the event called ("Be a part of the New Uzbekistan!"), developed an information system "Census", which allows you to collect, process, analyze and formulate the results of primary census data. Also, the schematic maps of all microdistricts of our republic have been updated, a list of residential and non-residential premises has been compiled.
From November 1 to November 25, 2021, a trial population census was conducted in the Khodjiabad district of Andijan region, Yukori-Chirchik district of Tashkent region, Khiva city of Khorezm region and Yashnabad district of Tashkent city. The registration processes were carried out in three different ways: the processes of online registration (via the Internet), tablet and paper registration were tested.
During the test processes, the census using the tablet method turned out to be more convenient, fast and cost-effective than the paper method. Based on the results of tests and the experience of advanced countries, it is planned to abandon the paper method of registration and it is planned to be carried out via the Internet and with the widespread use of tablet devices.
