Three historical mosques were illegally demolished in the Samarkand region: damage amounted to 46.8 billion soums

    During the control measures carried out by the prosecutor's office jointly with the Cultural Heritage Agency, it was revealed that in the Samarkand region three historical mosques of the XIX–XX centuries were demolished, and one mosque was illegally restored, which caused a total damage of 46.8 billion soums.

    In particular, the Kushok Ota mosque was demolished in the Kattakurgan district, which led to damage of 19.6 billion soums; the Ahmad Yassaviy and Hoji Urinboy mosques were destroyed in the Urgut district, the damage amounted to 17 billion soums. Also, in the Samarkand region, the architectural monument "Kulba" was illegally restored, which led to damage of 10.2 billion soums.

    Criminal cases have been initiated on the revealed facts, and control measures are continuing.
