A platform is being created in Seoul to strengthen interregional cooperation between Central Asian countries and South Korea

    Uzbek diplomats took part in Seoul in the first "round table" on the topic "Korean-Central Asian regional cooperation", organized by the Association of Governors of the Republic of Korea (GAROK) with the support of the Secretariat of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.

    The event was chaired by GAROK Secretary General Yu Min Bong, according to the news agency "Dunyo".

    The round table was also attended by the head of the Secretariat of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Ri Jong Kuk, Vice Mayor of Seoul Kim Y-seung, Head of the Economic Department of the Daegu City Administration, Vice Mayor of the Songdong-gu district of Seoul Ryu Bo Hwa, former ambassadors of South Korea to Central Asian countries experts and representatives of research institutes, as well as heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries.

    According to representatives of the South Korean side, against the background of the established interaction of the South Korean government with partner countries in Central Asia, the "era of diplomacy between local authorities" has come. It was emphasized that 38 documents on the establishment of fraternal or friendly relations have been signed between the cities and regions of South Korea and Central Asian countries. Welcoming the significant rapprochement within the framework of these agreements, it was reported that the South Korean side is ready to establish closer and direct interaction between the local authorities of the parties.

    In accordance with the agenda of the round table, a discussion was held on the topic of enhancing interregional cooperation and developing joint proposals. The parties reached an agreement to intensify the exchange of information on the potential of cities and regions of South Korea and Central Asian countries, as well as to strengthen the coordinating role of GAROK in the development of interregional cooperation.
