Prices for some products decreased in Tashkent supermarkets in December

    In December 2024, experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IMRI) conducted another monitoring of food prices for 21 positions in the largest supermarket chains in Tashkent.

    The monitoring results showed that the minimum prices for 10 positions decreased compared to the previous month*.

    Thus, the price reduction for table beet was 21.8%, lemons - 16.7%, red carrots - 14.4%, buckwheat - 10.7%, sugar - 2.8%, rice - 2.8%, milk - 2.8%, bananas - 2.0%, beef (fillet) - 1.7%, wheat flour - 0.6%.

    Minimum prices have increased for 10 positions. The leader of the price increase is white cabbage. At the same time, the price of white cabbage in Tashkent is the lowest among the capitals of Central Asian countries. So, in Dushanbe, the price of these products is 2 times higher, in Astana - 1.7 times, in Bishkek - 1.2 times.

    The prices of cucumbers have also increased significantly. But in comparison with the indicator of the corresponding period last year, cucumber prices are 4.3% lower.

    * For 1 item (margarine), the minimum price remained unchanged.
