Prices for a number of products decreased in supermarkets in Tashkent in February

    In February 2025, experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IMRI) conducted another monitoring of food prices for 21 positions in the largest supermarket chains in Tashkent.

    The monitoring results showed that the minimum prices for 6 items decreased compared to the previous month*.

    Thus, the price reduction for potatoes amounted to 26.1%, red carrots – 11.3%, table beets – 8.2%, eggs – 7.8%, milk – 0.9%, sugar – 0.4%. Potato imports from Pakistan contributed to lower potato prices after prices rose last month.

    Minimum prices have increased for 8 positions. The largest increase in prices was noted for white cabbage, which is due to the seasonal factor.

    Prices for cucumbers have also increased significantly. But compared to the corresponding period last year, prices for cucumbers are 30.0% lower.

    The minimum prices for 7 items remained unchanged. These are wheat flour, rice, buckwheat, pasta, apples, bananas, chicken meat (fillet).
