This conference is a logical continuation of the initiatives of the leadership of Uzbekistan and demonstrates the openness of the republic's foreign policy aimed at restoring the historical interconnectedness of the regions of Central and South Asia.
The main objectives of the event are to develop coordinated actions of the international community in the Afghan direction, concrete proposals and actions for the economic recovery of the country, and the provision of urgent humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade B. Abidov moderated the first breakout session "Economic Recovery is the basis for lasting peace in Afghanistan". During the session, a presentation was held on the implementation of the 750 km long Termez-Mazar-I-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway route construction project.
According to preliminary calculations of JSC "Boshtranslatikha", the project includes the construction of more than 1,200 artificial structures, including three tunnels, more than 100 crossings and 336 bridges. The total estimated cost of the project according to preliminary data is 4.6 billion US dollars. The implementation of this project will not only create thousands of new jobs, but also solve many socio-economic problems of the Afghan society, which will contribute to the establishment of peace and stability in this country.
The importance of this project lies in the fact that it connects the railway infrastructure between Central and South Asia, thus ensuring the interconnectedness of the regions. Its implementation will create unique prospects and real opportunities for the development of the economies of the countries, building up strong interregional cooperation.
During the breakout session, the results of the activities of the international multifunctional transport and logistics hub in Termez, through which humanitarian aid is sent to Afghanistan, and the educational center for training Afghan citizens in Termez were also presented, the press service of the MIFT RUz reports.
