The WTT
Youth Contender tournament, which is held in the Olympic Town, brought together
about 500 young tennis players from 21 countries. The competitions are held in
the age categories U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19 and will last until July 22.
On July 24,
the WTT Feeder tournament among adults starts in Tashkent. It is expected that
more than 160 athletes from 18 countries will take part in it. The winners and
prize-winners will be determined on July 28.
The holding
of international World Table Tennis (WTT) tournaments in Tashkent confirms the
growing interest of the world sports community in Uzbekistan as a venue for
major international competitions and contributes to the further development of
table tennis in the country.
