On May 25, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the "Program of scientific research on the development of technologies for the production, storage and transportation of hydrogen in the field of hydrogen energy", developed by the Ministry of Innovative Development. According to the program:
- an experimental model of a hydrogen-powered vehicle using ammonia and hydrogen fuel cells will be developed;
- an experimental pilot device designed to produce heat and electricity from "green" hydrogen fuel will be created;
- methods will be developed for the development and application of standards, regulations and rules in the field of hydrogen energy.
It is reported that a total of 1.78 billion sums have been allocated to finance research projects in the field of renewable and hydrogen energy within the framework of four projects.
