For the first time in Japan, an Ambassador of Uzbek culture has been appointed

In order to further expand cultural ties with Japan, popular singer and performer of folk instruments Masha Komazaki has been appointed Ambassador of Uzbek Culture in this country.

This is reported by the Dunyo news agency.

At the appointment ceremony, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov solemnly presented Mrs. Masha Komozaki with the badge "Ambassador of Uzbek Culture" for her worthy contribution to the development of cultural and educational ties between our countries.

The diplomat noted that the status of "Ambassador of Uzbek Culture" was awarded to a Japanese citizen for the first time and stressed that the government of Uzbekistan pays great attention to the development of cultural ties with Japan.

Masha Komazaki expressed her gratitude for awarding such an honorary title. She noted that this status would create great opportunities in her future activities.

    — Uzbek national music played at cultural events in Japan inspires Japanese people to visit Uzbekistan. In their minds, these melodies create a vivid image of a mysterious country on the Great Silk Road. It can't help but inspire me to create new things," she said.

During the ceremony, an agreement was reached on popularizing Uzbek culture through the implementation of joint projects, the preparation of programs and the publication of articles about our country in Japan.

Masha Komazaki was born in Tokyo. In 2010, she graduated from the Piano Faculty of the Tokyo University of Music. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as a music teacher at a secondary school in Bukhara as part of the Japanese Volunteer Cooperation Abroad (JOCV) program.

During her stay in Uzbekistan, she learned to play Uzbek national musical instruments, in particular the dutar. In 2018, she took the honorable third place at the First International Makom Art Festival held in Uzbekistan, performing the melody "Sunbula" in Uzbek. She also took the honorable third place at the Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival and the Boysun Bahori International Folklore Festival in 2024.
