New scientific and educational centers in New Tashkent – an investment in youth

As previously reported, on April 3 this year, the construction of the first facilities began in New Tashkent. The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that this large-scale project starts with scientific and educational institutions, noting: “They will become the basis and exemplary embodiment of our idea of creating an enlightened society”.

Today, the Head of state got acquainted with the progress made in constructing the facilities.

Among them is the new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan. The four-story complex in the national style will occupy an area of 30 thousand square meters and will be able to serve 1,420 readers simultaneously.

For storing publications of the library fund, special equipment that allows for accounting is planned to be installed, ensuring the safety and sterilization of books. In addition, the building will be multifunctional: a cafe for 300 people, a gallery, areas for light sports, and other amenities will be organized for visitors.

“As I already said, we have two main pillars: the economy and spirituality. A spiritually great nation will also become great in economic terms. Educated youth will continue the work of their great ancestors, being highly educated, possessing national pride and a broad outlook. Therefore, we are starting the construction of our new city with enlightenment centers. They should become centers of spirituality, culture, and science for at least a century to come”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

The President also emphasized that library employees must meet modern requirements and possess advanced information technologies and service skills. In this regard, the task has been set to improve the quality of training of librarians at the National University of Uzbekistan and other educational institutions. In addition, an order has been given to open library branches in 14 cities of the country to create favorable conditions for developing a reading culture in the regions.

Modern campuses for the Tashkent State Pedagogical University and the New Uzbekistan University are also being built in the new city. The President got acquainted with the progress of the work.

Today, seven faculties of TSPU are scattered across different buildings, and many of the buildings are outdated. Therefore, on 40 hectares, educational buildings will be built for 20 thousand students. Also, a dormitory for 5 thousand places, a kindergarten for 300 children, a school for 616 students, an academic lyceum for 588 places, sports and culture palaces, an amphitheater, and other facilities will be built here. An innovative pedagogical cluster will be created based on the principle of “kindergarten – school – university” taking into account the experience of leading foreign universities.

The most modern conditions will be provided for teachers and students. The transition to single-shift education and the introduction of dual education will improve the educational process and practical training quality.

The New Uzbekistan University, founded on the initiative of the Head of state, has become a new milestone in the higher education system. The curricula here are developed based on German standards with the involvement of the teaching staff of the world’s leading universities. Every year, more and more young people want to enroll in this university, and currently, over a thousand students are studying there.

The construction of the new complex for the university will be carried out in three stages. Academic buildings and the rector’s office will be erected in the first stage. Five faculties will be built here, designed for 10 thousand students, and the rector’s office, capable of simultaneously serving 8 thousand people. It is also planned to build a library, a museum, an exhibition hall, a multimedia room, a sports complex and a swimming pool.

In addition, residential premises for 286 places for teachers and a student dormitory for 2 thousand places are provided.

The Head of state, noting the importance of these projects, emphasized the need for a rational organization of the educational process.

“These education institutions are an investment in youth. Their areas, programs, quality of education, and specialties must correspond to the goals that we strive to achieve in New Uzbekistan. Those who receive knowledge today will become the key to the country’s progress and the solution of essential issues in the future”, the President said.
