Currently, energy and environmental problems are more and more acutely felt in the world. In this regard, many solar and wind power plants are being built in Uzbekistan, energy-saving technologies are being introduced in the economic sector.
To consistently continue this work, the state program for the implementation of the Development Strategy in 2022 provides for the development of a program for the transition to a green economy and energy conservation in industries. The information about the measures included in this program was provided at the presentation.
It was noted that this document defines the concept of transition to a green economy and ensuring energy efficiency in industrial sectors with the approval of targets for reducing the consumption of fuel and energy resources at 25 strategically important enterprises.
Due to this, it is planned to save 3.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 21 thousand tons of petroleum products in the industries in 2022-2026. As a result, it is planned to reduce the share of energy consumption in the cost of production by 20 percent.
From June 1, 2023, a system of green certificates will be introduced, confirming that products are produced using environmentally friendly energy and technologies.
To this end, regulation of greenhouse gas emissions will be gradually introduced. At the same time, state support measures will be taken to reduce harm to nature.
It is also proposed to fully implement the “polluter pays” principle, expand the list of pollutants and increase the collection rate for releasing such substances.
The main attention was paid to increasing scientific research on the green economy and the implementation of innovative projects.
A group will be formed to continuously assess the implementation of the measures specified in the document. It will include the heads of 15 international organizations and financial institutions.
The Head of the state approved these proposals and gave instructions on improving energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption in the production of products in each industry.
