This year, participants of the contest photographed mountains, lakes and
rivers, forests, unique wildlife, and protected natural areas in various
regions of Uzbekistan. A total of 1,172 photographs were uploaded to the
contest. With this indicator, Uzbekistan ranked 20th among the countries that
participated in Wiki Loves Earth 2026.
The selected photographs capture natural locations such as the Tashkent Botanical
Garden, Zamin National Natural Park, Ugam-Chatkal area, Urungach natural
monument, and the Sudochye nature reserve in Karakalpakstan.
Wiki Loves Earth is not just a photo contest, but an international project
aimed at creating an open visual archive about countries' natural heritage. The
photographs taken within the framework of the contest are uploaded to the
Wikimedia Commons platform and can later be used in encyclopedic, educational,
and cultural projects.
Now, Uzbekistan's 12 selected photographs will be evaluated together with
works chosen from other countries in the international round.
