During the
talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Shuleiko, the steady growth of
mutual trade was noted, the volume of which amounted to 965 million US dollars
last year. It was also stressed that there are about 250 enterprises with the
participation of Belarusian capital in Uzbekistan, and 110 companies with Uzbek
investments in Belarus.
The parties
discussed the preparation of a roadmap for further development of cooperation,
as well as the holding of the 3rd interregional forum, which will be held on
July 6-8 in Minsk.
Special
attention was paid to the prospects of creating livestock clusters in Belarus,
as well as expanding cooperation in the light, food, furniture, chemical, and
building materials industries.
Negotiations
were held separately with the heads of large Belarusian companies, where
projects on localization of drug production and creation of scientific and
production clusters in Uzbekistan were considered. Initiatives for the
production of dairy, confectionery and children's products were discussed in
the food industry, and projects for the production of clothing, furniture and
polymer products were discussed in the fields of light industry and
woodworking.
Following
the visit, agreements were reached on the implementation of new investment
projects aimed at attracting capital, technology transfer and creating new jobs
in Uzbekistan.
