According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, the country's higher education institutions have achieved the highest performance in the region and have become absolute leaders in the region of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The Agency analyzed the contribution of universities to the achievement of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations. 59 higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan are registered in it, which is the highest indicator in the region.
With this indicator, Uzbekistan ranks 13th in terms of global representation. Also, 12 higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan entered the top 1000 universities in the world. Among them, three universities took the highest places in the ranking - 201-300 places.
It is worth noting that Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature improved its last year's result by 100 positions (301-400), while the National University of Uzbekistan and the National Research University "TIIIMSH" achieved a sharp increase this year, rising by more than 400 positions compared to last year (601-800).
According to the rating results, 7 universities of Uzbekistan were included in the list of the 10 strongest higher education institutions in the region. In addition, the country's universities are recognized as regional leaders or joint leaders in 11 areas of the UN SDGs.
These results were noted as an international recognition of the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to modernize the higher education system, stimulate scientific and innovative activities and actively involve universities in the development of society.
