The electrical sector is rightfully considered one of the drivers of Uzbekistan’s industrial growth. Export volumes have increased sevenfold over the past seven years, with products now supplied to 63 countries. Around 500 enterprises operate within this sector, employing more than 27,000 citizens.
A Presidential Resolution “On additional measures to elevate the electrical industry to a new stage of development” was adopted on January 22 this year to enhance the industry’s potential. In accordance with this resolution, steps are being implemented to stimulate the production of high-value-added goods, attract investments and international brands, and promote research and development activities.
The industry’s production volume exceeded 7 trillion UZS in the first quarter this year. Exports reached nearly $310 million, marking a 1.3-fold increase.
During this period, $55 million in investments were utilized, of which $48 million consisted of direct foreign investments and loans.
A project portfolio totaling $900 million has been formed to produce high-demand products under international brands. Work is underway to coordinate technical processes and implement the necessary technologies.
The presentation outlined key objectives for the second quarter and the remainder of the year.
This year, the industry’s production volume is planned to increase to 43 trillion UZS and localize production worth approximately 5 trillion UZS. 71 projects amounting to $656 million will be implemented, creating 4,600 new jobs. Export volumes are expected to reach $1.7 billion, with the export geography expanding to 70 countries.
The President emphasized the importance of selecting the right development trajectory for the electrical industry amid global economic fluctuations and the need for rapid adaptation to market demands. He highlighted the relevance of deepening localization, producing high-value-added goods, and training qualified personnel capable of effectively working with modern technologies.
Responsible officials were instructed to establish close cooperation with each enterprise in the sector, promptly address issues arising in industrial and logistics chains, diversify export destinations, and actively explore new markets.
