According to the website of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), First Vice-President Ravshan Irmatov has been appointed acting president of the AFU.

In its Telegram channel, AFU informed that an extraordinary congress of the association will be held on February 22. Until then, Ravshan Irmatov will serve as the president of the organization. The election of a new AFU head is scheduled for next month.

Abdusalom Azizov became the head of the association in July 2019, replacing Achilbai Ramatov as First Deputy Prime Minister. He was re-elected to this position in September 2021.
