About 250,000 people from all over the world gathered in Vatican Square and the surrounding streets to participate in the event.
After the official part of the ceremony, Speaker N. Ismailov congratulated the new Pope and conveyed to him warm greetings from President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In turn, the newly elected Pope expressed deep gratitude to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of 156 foreign countries, royal houses and religious denominations.
