On February 21, 2026, 62 children complained of fever, weakness, nausea and diarrhea at the regional Infectious diseases hospital. All the children are being treated in the hospital, their condition is assessed as satisfactory. The doctors diagnosed an acute diarrheal disease of alimentary etiology.
The Regional Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, together with the Department of Preschool and School Education, have checked the canteens of kindergartens and are conducting laboratory tests of food samples that the children consumed.
The territories of preschool institutions where mass poisoning occurred were examined by an investigative task force consisting of employees of the city prosecutor's office and the Department of Internal Affairs. A pre-investigation check is currently underway.
The situation has been taken under personal control by the Ombudsman, the regional representative continues to monitor and interact with the hospital, educational institutions and parents to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
