A number of agreements have been reached with Iran on the development of cooperation in the field of transport

    On June 17 of this year, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov met with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehrdod Bazrposh.

    At the meeting, the sides discussed aspects related to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transport, development and diversification of transport corridors, effective use of existing opportunities in this direction.

    In particular, the parties reached an agreement on the development of a trilateral multimodal transport corridor "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran" and the approval in the near future of an agreement submitted by the Uzbek side on operation, reduction on a parity basis of fees levied by Iran from Uzbek national carriers in the process of transporting goods by road, as well as comparison of fuel taxes with taxes of other countries.

    The parties also came to an agreement on the establishment of an Iranian-Uzbek logistics center for the further development of trade relations between our countries, a sharp increase in cargo transportation, as well as the construction of terminals and warehouses with the participation of Uzbek entrepreneurs on the territory of the ports of Chobahor and Banderabbas, located on the territory of Iran.

    Taking into account Iran's extensive experience in the field of road construction, it is planned to create a joint venture, as well as meetings between responsible departments are planned to develop cooperation in the field of railway transport.
