World's first microcomputer is up for auction right now

The world's first microcomputer, the Q1, is now up for auction at Heritage Auctions.

Created in 1972 by the New York-based Q1 Corporation, the Q1 microcomputer had a built-in screen, keyboard, and even a printer. It was a real miracle for its time.

The Q1 is a real contender for the title of "first microcomputer" thanks to the use of a microprocessor (Intel 8008) instead of large transistor logic circuits. This innovation allowed the Q1 to perform tasks previously reserved for much larger machines.

Despite its technical superiority, "Q1" was not a commercial success. Despite the fact that NASA was the main customer, very few devices were exported.
