On August 15, a case of displacement of two unidentified persons in the border area was recorded near the Ugam-Chatkal wildlife sanctuary in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. The border patrol, within the limits of its authority, ordered the violators to stop, but they tried to escape.

The border troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan commented on the situation.

It is reported that in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, warning shots were fired into the air several times in order to stop violators.

Despite this, the unidentified men did not obey the lawful demands of the border guards and continued moving towards the state border. As a result of the last measure, weapons were used against them.

During the incident, two violators were injured and, despite the first aid provided by the border guards, died at the scene.

One tent, three horses, food supplies and traces of a third person who managed to escape were also found at the site.

On the same day, the border services of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were notified of the incident.

On August 31, it was established that the dead were Kyrgyz citizens; their bodies were handed over to their relatives.

By agreement of the heads of the border agencies of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the scene of the incident was jointly examined on September 2-3. The results of the investigation confirmed that the actions of the border patrol were in accordance with the legislation of Uzbekistan, and the violators crossed the state border illegally. It has also been confirmed that a third person has managed to escape to the territory of Kyrgyzstan; his identity will be established and appropriate measures will be taken.

In order to prevent such cases, both sides agreed to conduct awareness-raising activities among the population of the border areas and strengthen joint control over the protection of difficult mountain areas.
