Participants focused on the Regulation “On the procedure for conducting gender-legal expertise of normative-legal documents and their projects”, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

In accordance with this, draft laws and bylaws regulating all areas will undergo gender-legal expertise. This will help to create equal opportunities for women and men.

Explanations were provided on the fact that the draft legal act undergoing gender legal expertise must comply with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, generally recognized international standards, the Law “On guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men” and other normative-legal acts regulating issues in this direction. Reports on “Gender equality as an integral indicator of human rights”, “International and national practice in ensuring gender equality”, “Basic requirements for gender expertise” were heard at the event.
