On December 20, at a meeting of the UN Security Council devoted to discussing the situation in Afghanistan, Charge d'affaires, Deputy Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Nurilla Abdullayev gave information about the measures taken by our country to establish long-term peace in Afghanistan.

At an open meeting chaired by India, the members of the UN Security Council were presented with the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create, under the auspices and with the support of the UN, a high-level International Negotiating Group to resolve the situation in Afghanistan in order to coordinate with the authorities of this country the phased implementation of the requirements of the world community.

The members of the Security Council were informed about the productive experience of Uzbekistan's interaction with the current Afghan authorities. It was reported that through dialogue with the Taliban, Uzbekistan managed to open schools for girls in the northern provinces, and for the first time in the last 25 years, to launch the transit of goods to the seaports of Pakistan and back through Afghanistan. At the same time, attention was drawn to the fact that over the past 10 months, about 600 thousand tons of goods were transported in both directions along this transit route, without any incidents from the point of view of security.

The meeting participants were also provided with detailed information about the assistance provided by the republic in the field of training of Afghan experts and students, including women, electricity supplies, successfully implemented infrastructure projects, emergency humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, as well as support for international efforts in this direction through a multifunctional transport and logistics hub in the city of Termez. A call has been voiced for the hub to be given an international status under the auspices of the UN, the Dune news agency reports.

It is particularly emphasized: "The Afghan people have never waged wars, all of them were brought to the Afghan land from outside. Therefore, the world community must bear moral responsibility for the fate of Afghans, the future of this country."

It was noted that the repeated isolation of this country should not happen and the Afghan people should not be left alone with the increasingly deteriorating humanitarian and socio-economic problems in the country.
