Javokhir Sindarov Reached World Cup Final and Earned Candidates Tournament Spot

    The 19-year-old Uzbek chess player Javokhir Sindarov won the tie-break in the semi-final of the FIDE World Cup–2025 and advanced to the main final of the tournament. With this achievement, he also secured the right to participate in the 2026 Candidates Tournament.

    Uzbek chess players are successfully participating in the FIDE World Cup–2025 tournament. Out of the 5 athletes who defended the honor of our country in the initial stages, 3 of them—Suyarov Muhammadzakhid, Nodirbekh Abdusattorov, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov—had to leave the competition early.

    On November 21–22, the two classical games between our two compatriots in the semi-final stage—Nodirbek Yakubboev (2689 rating, 37th place) and Javokhir Sindarov (2721 rating, 25th place)—ended in a 1:1 draw. Similarly, the match between China’s Wei Yi (2752 rating, 11th place) and Russia’s Andrey Esipenko (2681 rating, 41st place) was also a draw.

    In the tie-break matches held on November 23, Javokhir Sindarov defeated Nodirbek Yakubboev with a score of 2.5:1.5, becoming the first finalist of the World Cup–2025 tournament.

    Due to this high result, our 19-year-old chess player also received a spot in the FIDE Candidates Tournament, which will be held in 2026. He will now have the opportunity to compete for the World Champion title.
