Uzbek chess players are successfully participating in the FIDE World Cup–2025 tournament. Out of the 5 athletes who defended the honor of our country in the initial stages, 3 of them—Suyarov Muhammadzakhid, Nodirbekh Abdusattorov, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov—had to leave the competition early.
On November 21–22, the two classical games between our two compatriots in the semi-final stage—Nodirbek Yakubboev (2689 rating, 37th place) and Javokhir Sindarov (2721 rating, 25th place)—ended in a 1:1 draw. Similarly, the match between China’s Wei Yi (2752 rating, 11th place) and Russia’s Andrey Esipenko (2681 rating, 41st place) was also a draw.
In the tie-break matches held on November 23, Javokhir Sindarov defeated Nodirbek Yakubboev with a score of 2.5:1.5, becoming the first finalist of the World Cup–2025 tournament.
Due to this high result, our 19-year-old chess player also received a spot in the FIDE Candidates Tournament, which will be held in 2026. He will now have the opportunity to compete for the World Champion title.
