As reported by Yuz.uz Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Omonulla Fayziev, immediately after reports appeared about the possible temporary suspension of the issuance of visas to Uzbek citizens, appropriate diplomatic measures were taken by Uzbekistan.
In particular, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riga held a number of meetings and negotiations with the leadership of the Office of the Prime Minister of Latvia, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, as well as the Presidential Administration. In addition, the Department of Consular and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held consultations with the Embassy of Latvia in Uzbekistan.
During the negotiations, the Latvian side was informed of Uzbekistan's position on the possible impact of the proposed measures on bilateral relations. As a result of the measures taken, the Latvian side reported that there was no need to amend the existing procedure.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to Uzbek citizens who are abroad or planning to travel abroad.
The Agency called on citizens to strictly comply with the laws of the host country, respect national customs and traditions, and be responsible for their actions.
"Violation of the law by individuals can negatively affect not only themselves, but also our other citizens who are legally studying, working, traveling or living abroad," Omonulla Fayziev said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that friendly and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Latvia are consistently developing.
