On the sidelines of the 76th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, an informal meeting was held between Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and the Ministers of Health of Central Asian countries.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the meeting began with a statement by the director of the Bureau H. Kluge, who spoke about the work carried out within the framework of the implementation of the "roadmap" in support of health and well-being in Central Asia for 2022-2025, as well as the tasks for the future.

It was noted that this document was approved by the Ministries of Health of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on September 11 last year. It is aimed at uniting the efforts of all Central Asian countries in the field of healthcare.

In particular, the roadmap includes a number of important measures to overcome the climate crisis, eliminate the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and problems related to the health system, as well as to further improve maternal and child health indicators, and prevent noncommunicable diseases in Central Asia.

In addition, this initiative will attract investments and other necessary resources to improve the health and well-being of the population of the region.

The Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Amrillo Inoyatov, who spoke at the meeting, noted that in recent years’ cooperation between Uzbekistan and the World Health Organization, as well as its European Regional Office, which unites 53 states, has been consistently strengthened.

Thus, it was noted with satisfaction that the vaccines against COVID-19, medicines and equipment delivered to our country with the assistance of WHO during the pandemic, as well as the recommendations developed by the organization for the treatment of the disease allowed saving the lives of thousands of our compatriots.

The next priority is the prompt and effective elimination of the consequences of the coronavirus. An important guide to action in this direction is the "roadmap" in support of health and well-being in Central Asia for 2022-2025.

It is noteworthy that the document also provides for measures related to global climate change, since this problem increases the risk of morbidity with cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the respiratory system, infection with acute intestinal infections among the population of the region. It is no secret that the difficult environmental situation leads to an increase in the incidence of anemia, cancer and tuberculosis.

Based on this, following the meeting, the participants identified the necessary measures to accelerate the implementation of the roadmap.
