On September 12, the ceremonial opening of the Uchkurgan border customs post, located in the Buston mahalla of the Uchkurgan district of Namangan region, took place.

According to the press service of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the capacity of the customs post is high, that is, on average, up to 10 thousand citizens can move freely in one day. It is expected that more than 500 trucks and more than 300 passenger vehicles per day will be able to pass through the post.

The resumption of the activities of the Uchkurgan-avtoyil checkpoints of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Kensai-Avtoyil of the Kyrgyz Republic will contribute not only to improving the welfare of the population of Namangan region, as well as Jalal-Abad region of the neighboring state, but will also mark the beginning of a new era in the movement of foreign trade goods throughout the Ferghana Valley.

This innovation will expand tourism opportunities not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the region.

The Uchkurgan border customs post is geographically located near the Osh- Bishkek highway of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The export of agricultural and industrial products from the valley regions by foreign and domestic carriers will be accelerated not only to the border regions, but also to foreign countries along the shortest and most convenient route.

In addition, as a result of the movement of transit goods from the Khojent district of the Republic of Tajikistan to Russia, China and Kyrgyzstan through the Uchkurgan border post, cargo traffic at the Dustlik border customs post in the Andijan region is expected to decrease by 30-40 percent.
