The meeting
discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in
the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the Doone
news agency reports.
Omar
al-Shamsi wished the new ambassador success in fulfilling his duties and
expressed his willingness to expand relations between the UAE and Uzbekistan in
all areas.
The Uzbek
Ambassador assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen the
traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
The new
Ambassador of Uzbekistan is 43 years old. He graduated from the University of
World Economy and Diplomacy. Since 2005, he began his diplomatic career in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an assistant, consistently held various posts,
including the diplomatic missions of our country in Washington and New York.
In
2018-2023, he was the permanent representative of our country to UNESCO in
Paris, and in 2023 he was appointed chairman of the Committee on Tourism of
Uzbekistan.
Umid
Shodiev replaced Abdulaziz Akkulov, who headed the Uzbek Embassy in the UAE in
2022-2025 and was appointed chairman of the Uzbek Tourism Committee in December
2025.
