Expansion of interparliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus discussed

    Within the framework of the business forum held in Vitebsk, Republic of Belarus, a delegation led by Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova.

    During the conversation, issues of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres and between parliaments were discussed. It was noted that the dialogue between the heads of state and visits at the highest level have brought interstate relations to a new level.

    The volume of trade turnover between the two countries has increased 5 times in recent years. Joint projects are being implemented in the fields of industrial cooperation, agriculture, healthcare and tourism.

    It was noted that cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere has expanded through the holding of such festivals as Sharq Taronalari and Slavyansky Bazar. In the field of education, cooperation has been established with 45 universities, which have more than two thousand students.

    Visits, joint forums and the activities of the commission consistently continue in the interparliamentary direction. An important step this year was the transformation of the Friendship Group into the Interparliamentary Commission for Cooperation.

    At the end of the meeting, documents related to the development of interparliamentary cooperation were signed.
