The parties discussed current issues of expanding practical cooperation with the GEF in climate resilience and ecosystem protection in Uzbekistan.
The GEF’s significant contribution to implementing projects in Uzbekistan on biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, and adaptation to climate change was noted with satisfaction.
The joint project portfolio exceeded $100 million.
Particular attention was paid to the creation of a regional air quality monitoring network, the implementation of greening and ecotourism development programs, the conservation of endangered species, and the rehabilitation of the Aral Sea region.
Views were also exchanged on holding major international events in Uzbekistan next year, including a meeting of the Global Environment Facility’s donors.
