The AIIB President expressed deep gratitude to the Leader of Uzbekistan for all-round assistance in holding the Bank’s leading event in Samarkand and confirmed his firm commitment to further support for irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan.
The practical aspects of developing full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank were discussed.
The highest level of cooperation achieved in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The project portfolio has exceeded $3 billion, which makes Uzbekistan the primary beneficiary of the AIIB in the region and the sixth in the world in terms of transaction volume.
Significant projects are being implemented in transport, energy, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, utilities, and entrepreneurship development.
The President of Uzbekistan put forward an initiative to begin preparing a 2030 Strategic Partnership Program with the AIIB in infrastructure development.
Poverty reduction, building New Tashkent, support for public-private partnership projects and the private sector, support for reforms in education, and modernization of water, transport, and energy infrastructure have been identified as priorities.
Particular attention was paid to promoting large infrastructure projects in Central Asia.
Following the meeting, in the presence of the President of Uzbekistan, an updated roadmap until 2026 was signed with promising projects worth over $4 billion.
